NSS MAGAZINE INTERNSHIP MILANO SUMMER 2019
nss magazine was born in 2012 as an evolution of naplestreetstyle.it, and from 2009 it has established on a global level as a fashion and cool hunting magazine with exclusive contents. Today nss magazine is a reference point all over Europe for all the street culture, sneakers, and fashion communities and enthusiasts.
The goal of nss magazine is making the streetwear culture more accessible, with contents ranging from journalistic investigations to fashion guides focusing on the season's trends. nss magazine brings together two spin-off projects: nss sports dedicated to the football and sportswear culture, and nss G Club, which explores the beauty world.
DESCRIPTION
MY CHOICE
I was following NSS on Instagram for almost a year when I decided to ask for an internship. I've been living outside of Italy for almost 8 years and before NSS I was not following the creative scene made in Italy, but when I found NSS, it immediately caught my attention. They are very active in the Milano sport-culture scene, creating events and pop-up stores, but they also are pretty active in the production of fashion campaigns like the OFF-WHITE handbags campaign they produce back in July.
Their field of expertise is around streetwear, sneakers, and sport, but my choice was driven by working in a magazine. I have a great passion for magazine and fashion, and when we had to decide where to do an internship I thought this would have been the perfect timing to follow my desires and curiosity. Now that I am in my third year I am shaping my profession towards a field that is not only to be a photographer but also what's around it, especially in fashion photography.
NSS has not only an online magazine, but it is also a creative agency that takes care of producing events, campaigns, and advertising for clients in the fashion and beauty fields, so for me, this was a chance to actually get a good insight on production, management, and organization of everything I've just mentioned, for these reasons I based my choice.

WORK PLACE AND ENVIRONMENT
The environment at NSS is young and creative. Starting from the office building which is situated in the heart of Milan, a classic old building with marble stairs and wooden big squared tables that we all share and work on.
The office is split into 2 floors, the upper is the creative agency of NSS factory and downstairs is the NSS magazine, where I've been placed.
The team is led by Martina Strata project manager and Filippo D'Asario head of content.
The magazine is divided between the streetwear culture and last trends and NSS sports.
My daily tasks are to research projects we are following.
In August we were preparing for a digital cover out in September, I got the task to scout photographers, stylists, and makeup artists.
Moreover, I translate articles from Italian to English, which I enjoy and mood board research for clients and as a frame of reference for the magazine staff.
I participated as well in the scouting for models for the new eco-friendly campaign by Timberland, a project from the NSS factory, the target group was young models/influencers that care about the environment and live their lives to the eco-friendly standards.
09/08 - 25/08 HOLIDAYS
Coming back from the holidays we focused on finding creative ideas for the content of NSS G club, the female version of the magazine, looking for ideas and inspiration to better define the content that is going to be in the online magazine.
The coming up project in September are events for UMBRO and MIA and of course coverage of the street style during the Fashion Week around the world.
